Welcome to Cape Ann Skeptics

We are a group of people interested in exploring the world with a skeptical point of view.

Our definition of skepticism is "rational, critical, and scientific thinking." We are not cynics nor contrarians. Rather, we are people who look at the world rationally.

Skeptics in the Pub on Cape Ann

Like Skeptics in the Pub meetings around the world, we gather as an opportunity for skeptics to meet one another and share ideas.

Meetings are generally scheduled for the third Tuesday of every month. There is no cost or registration.

On Tues, May 17th, well-known skeptic Brian Dunning will Skype with us for the presentation we had scheduled for last month entitled Bad Skepticism:Challenging Popular Assumptions. Brian hosts the weekly podcast, Skeptoid, and is the author of 5 books on the subject of scientific skepticism. He says the following about this presentation, “This talk blows the lid off some of the huge mistakes skeptics have made, some terrible but popular so-called ‘skeptical’ explanations for famous phenomena. It's a lot of fun, covers a lot of ground, and exposes a lot of stories and urban legends you've heard of.”

We meet in the function room of The Pilot House Restaurant, 3 Porter St., Gloucester.

6:00 Begin gathering to socialize and order food and drink
6:45 The program begins with short videos and miscellaneous fun

Everyone interested in skepticism is welcome!
